La Pointe to Port Superior

We woke up around 8:00 and Michael and I made the trek to the bathrooms to shower.  After a week of swimming in the lake the hot water felt really good.  After showers we walked into La Pointe for breakfast at Ella’s Lakeside Café.  I had oatmeal and a granola bar… just kidding.  I had pancakes and sausage.  We had a really nice breakfast and then did a little shopping in the local gift shops.

Back at the boat we had to face the fact that our week was almost over.  Eventually we prepared the boat for sailing and headed out for Port Superior.  The wind was light and we headed towards Long Island on a broad reach.  It was a mellow sail but finally we had to change course and head home.  Naturally it was a beat to Port Superior.  Michael did a great job of sailing and soon it was time to drop the sails and our cruise was over.

We motored to the fuel dock and pumped the head and filled the diesel.  Then it was to our slip.  I really wasn’t ready for the trip to be over.  I had been sailing for eight days and was just getting warmed up.  But, all good things must come to an end.

Back at the slip we stripped the boat to the holds and cleaned, cleaned, cleaned.  It was the last big cleaning of the season until fall take-out.  It was a hot day and the kids would take breaks and swim in the pool.  Once we finished the cleaning it was time for dinner.

Dinner was in Bayfield at Maggie’s.  We had a long wait but it was worth it.

Port Superior to Home

We woke up, loaded up, and drove home.  End of story.
