Cushion Project 2008

This winter we decided to reupholster our interior seat cushions.  The first step was to find an upholstery shop that does cushions for boats.  This proved to be a little harder then we expected.  But, Crows Nest Yachts recommended ShipShape Products Inc. in Duluth Minnesota and they were able to do our cushions.

We delivered the old ratty cushions and began to look at fabrics.  I was hopeful that I would find a fabric I liked right away and be done with with the whole fabric search process.  But, no luck.  I didn't like any of the fabrics and so started the fabric search process.  We wanted a dark blue fabric and thought Sunbrella and other marine fabric companies would have lots of dark blue to choose from.  It turns out they don't.  I looked at a lot of fabrics and even called some shops in Seattle asking for ideas.  I was surprised when they seemed surprised I was looking for a dark blue.  The search continued...

Luckily, Crows Nest Yachts happened to have a brand new Sunbrella dark blue fabric in their shop on a day I stopped by.  When I saw it I knew that was the pattern and color I wanted.

Once the fabric was ordered ShipShape had the job done within two weeks and even delivered the cushions to my house.

This spring we brought them up to the boat and they look great.  The dark blue makes the teak look so much nicer then the white and blue patterned cushions we had.

We are really pleased with the job ShipShape did and would recommend them for cushion and canvas work.
