School Closing Notifications
No closings at this time
For School closings, please listen to KBEK, 95.5 FM, WCCO, 830 AM, or any of the local television stations
In cases of extreme weather, the Superintendent is authorized by the Board of Education to close schools or to delay the starting time. When such conditions exist, the school system notifies WCCO Radio and the metro television stations, which in turn pass this information to you.
The decision to close or hold school is made by 6:00 am; no decisions are made the day before. Unless you hear over WCCO or the local news stations that schools are closed, they will be open. Please do not call the radio or television stations or the school switchboard.
Generally, it is not considered wise to dismiss school once it starts. Many working parents are not prepared to receive children early, so safety becomes a major concern. In case of inclement weather, parents may personally decide not to let their children come to school. They may also pick children up from school anytime during the day. We will not dismiss students upon phone request.
Children absent in inclement weather when school is held, will be marked absent and treated the same as in any other legitimate absence. The school, though, must receive proper parental notice.
In short, District 911 is dedicated to the safety and education of your children. It is the District's intent to keep schools open every school day possible during inclement weather.
