CIHS Band Syllabus
Expectations
You must attend all required concerts or a grade reduction will be made for any unexcused absence. Illness and family emergency are the ONLY accepted excuse for missing a concert. Women will dress in black or black and white. Men will wear black pants, white tuxedo shirt, cummerbund and tie. Men’s clothing will be loaned by the school and must be kept cleaned and pressed for all performances. Men must provide their own black dress shoes and black socks. |
Attend all rehearsals with music, pencil, and instrument. |
Attend all lessons and be prepared by practicing all assignments. |
Perform in at least one Pep Band in Fall and one Pep Band in Winter. A waiver can be signed for those students who are in sports and would like to complete both pep bands in one season. |
Goals
Ability to play one octave scales in major keys, and two octave chromatic scale. |
Perform music of appropriate level and difficulty with confidence. |
Have a basic understanding of the key concepts dealing with the history of musical performance. |
Have a basic understanding of important terms and characteristics of instrumental music |
