Mission Statement
The mission of Cambridge-Isanti District #911 Early Childhood Screening is to assist parents and communities to improve the
educational readiness and health of all young children through the detection of children's health, development,
and other factors that may interfere with a child's learning, growth, and development.
(This is also the Minnesota Early Childhood Screening mission.)
What?
The early childhood years from birth to the start of kindergarten are an important time of rapid learning and growth. Early Childhood Screening is a quick and simple check of how children are doing between the ages of 3 to 4 years. It identifies, at an early stage, possible learning or health concerns so that children can get needed help before starting school. Early Childhood Screening is not a kindergarten entrance test.
Screening is required by state law before a child enters kindergarten. That makes it sound as though a child should be screened right before kindergarten. NOT SO!
Screening is most valuable for three-year-olds!

All Early Childhood Screenings are held at the Cambridge Intermediate School in the Early Childhood hallway.

Early Childhood Screening is a free check of:
· Height
· Weight
· Vision
· Hearing· Immunization Records
· Speech/Language Assessment
· Developmental Assessment
Scoring is based on the child’s age at the time of screening, so being older does not give children any advantage. Screening is free, and is offered during the school year.
