CIS Bluejacket Pride Recognition

Students and staff at Cambridge Intermediate celebrated achievement successes in both character and academic areas during the grade level Blue Jacket Pride Recognition Ceremonies! Students earned over 800 dog tags in the areas of perfect attendance, reading, math, music, and character traits.

Million Word Club
There are 57 students in the Million Word Club this year... FANTASTIC!!  In May we celebrated this accomplishment.  Of these 57, 13 have read over 2 million words, three have read over 3 million words, two have read over 4 million and for the first time ever, we have one student who has read over 5 MILLION WORDS!!  GeAn Merkouris is a fourth grader from Mrs. Jacobsma's class who has 773 points after passing 176 quizzes!

Congratulations, GeAn, for breaking a CIS record!
No other student has ever reached 5,000,000 words. Who will be next?

The CIS 5th Grade Math Masters team, coached by our Academic Math Coach Ms. Tanya Siedlecki, was very successful at the Math Masters competition in Duluth!  One of our teams took SECOND PLACE out of 26 teams!  Congratulations to Becca Maikkula, Connor Braaten, Kresten Atkins, Natalie McDonald, and Jack Larson!  Our other two teams placed 10th and 17th!

Connor Braaten placed 12th out of 130 competitors in the Fact Drill competition!
And three of our students placed in the top 20 students overall:
3rd Place - Jack Larson, 10th Place - Natalie McDonald, 14th place - Eli Bingham

Twenty-five students attended weekly practices February through April.
Congratulations to all of the students who participated!

Help raise money for our classrooms!

Tyson Project A+

CIS is participating in the Tyson Project A+™ program, a fund-raising program sponsored by Tyson Foods, Inc. Through this program, we can raise up to $12,000 for our school this year! The money can go towards supplies, building improvements, school programs, or anything else we choose. Just clip and collect Tyson Project A+ labels from participating Tyson® product packages and send them to school with your child. We’ll collect the labels and send them to Tyson Foods, and Tyson Foods will send our school a check. Each label is worth 24¢!

Box Tops for Education
Earn cash for our school every time you shop for groceries. Clip Box Tops coupons from hundreds of products found at your local grocery store. Each coupon is worth 10 cents when we redeem them from General Mills.  Look for Box Tops coupons on Pop Secret popcorn, Bugels, Chex Mix, Gardettos snacks, Cheerios, Wheaties, Chex, Total, Kix, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Trix, Cocoa Puffs, Lucky Charms, Yoplait Go-Gurt, Pillsbury Rolls, Betty Crocker cake mixes and frosting, Bisquick, Progresso Soup, Old El Paso products, Gold Medal flour and many more! Go to to see a complete list of participating products.

CIS has raised $29,651.00 since 2004!  WOW!

Target Take Charge of Education

Here's a terrific way to raise funds for Cambridge Intermediate School! All you have to do is use your Target Visa or Target Card. Target generously donates 1 percent of your Target Visa or Target Card purchases to the school of your choice (CAMBRIDGE INTERMEDIATE) in the form of a cash donation through the Take Charge of Education program. Target tracks purchases charged to participating accounts and sends a check to us in March and September.  Signing up is easy.  Just visit, or call 1-800-316-6142 to designate Cambridge Intermediate as the school to receive a percentage of your purchases.

This fall we received a check for $1,585.53  -- that's not small change!

Campbell's Labels for Education

The Labels for Education program is a great way to get FREE merchandise for our school, and Campbell's makes it so easy to redeem labels. Participating in the program is easy - simply save the UPC labels from Campbell's products and send them to school!

Other Collection Items

Cambridge Intermediate also participates in fundraising through a recycling program.  Please send empty inkjet and laser printer cartridges and used cell phones with your student or drop them off the next time you are in the building in the designated area in the main entrance.
