Pennies for Peace
From January 12 through February 13, CIS will be participating in a Pennies for Peace campaign.  Pennies for Peace is a service-learning program designed to broaden our students' cultural horizons.  The goal of this program is to encourage our students, who are ultimately our future leaders, to learn the value of philanthropy by collecting pennies for global peace.  Pennies for Peace is a program of Central Asia Institute (CAI) that promotes and provides community-based education and literacy programs, especially for girls, in remote mountain regions of Central Asia.  To date, CAI has build nearly 100 schools in Afghanistan and Pakistan, which serve more than 28,000 students.

Dictionary Day for 3rd Graders
On Wednesday, December 3rd, the Rotary Club of Cambridge & Isanti and the Cambridge Lions presented our 3rd graders with their own personal dictionary.  The Dictionary Project is a non-profit organization designed to aid third grade teachers in their goal to see all their students become good writers, active readers, creative thinkers, and resourceful learners.  One of the highlights for our third graders was to find the longest word, which is 934 letters long!  Students are encouraged to keep the books at school and "wear them out" by the time they reach 6th grade!

Visitor Management
To ensure the safety and security of all students, staff and visitors to our buildings, Cambridge-Isanti Public School has implemented the following visitor safety procedures district wide:

Visitors must enter through the designated visitor entry and report to the main office.  Identify yourself and present a government issued photo identification.  If you are requesting to see or remove a student from a school building, you must have authorization from the parent or guardian.

Visitors will be asked to verify their identity by showing office staff a form of photo identification such as a driver's license or state ID card.  You will not be able to check in as a visitor without your photo ID.  Your ID will be scanned into our visitor management data base and a photo visitor badge will be printed and used as your visitor credential for the day.  Office staff will retain your photo ID for the duration of your visit.  Your ID will be returned at the conclusion of your visit.

Help raise money for our classrooms!

Tyson Project A+

CIS is participating in the Tyson Project A+™ program, a fund-raising program sponsored by Tyson Foods, Inc. Through this program, we can raise up to $12,000 for our school this year! The money can go towards supplies, building improvements, school programs, or anything else we choose. Just clip and collect Tyson Project A+ labels from participating Tyson® product packages and send them to school with your child. We’ll collect the labels and send them to Tyson Foods, and Tyson Foods will send our school a check. Each label is worth 24¢!

Box Tops for Education
Earn cash for our school every time you shop for groceries. Clip Box Tops coupons from hundreds of products found at your local grocery store. Each coupon is worth 10 cents when we redeem them from General Mills.  Look for Box Tops coupons on Pop Secret popcorn, Bugels, Chex Mix, Gardettos snacks, Cheerios, Wheaties, Chex, Total, Kix, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Trix, Cocoa Puffs, Lucky Charms, Yoplait Go-Gurt, Pillsbury Rolls, Betty Crocker cake mixes and frosting, Bisquick, Progresso Soup, Old El Paso products, Gold Medal flour and many more! Go to www.boxtops4education.com to see a complete list of participating products.

CIS has raised $31,307.00 since 2004!  WOW!

Target Take Charge of Education

Here's a terrific way to raise funds for Cambridge Intermediate School! All you have to do is use your Target Visa or Target Card. Target generously donates 1 percent of your Target Visa or Target Card purchases to the school of your choice (CAMBRIDGE INTERMEDIATE) in the form of a cash donation through the Take Charge of Education program. Target tracks purchases charged to participating accounts and sends a check to us in March and September.  Signing up is easy.  Just visit target.com/tcoe, or call 1-800-316-6142 to designate Cambridge Intermediate as the school to receive a percentage of your purchases.

This fall we received a check for $1,615.60  -- that's not small change!

Campbell's Labels for Education

The Labels for Education program is a great way to get FREE merchandise for our school, and Campbell's makes it so easy to redeem labels. Participating in the program is easy - simply save the UPC labels from Campbell's products and send them to school!

Other Collection Items

Cambridge Intermediate also participates in fundraising through a recycling program.  Please send empty inkjet and laser printer cartridges and used cell phones with your student or drop them off the next time you are in the building in the designated area in the main entrance.
