The 'quiet' phase of the search for your new superintendent is now completed and we are now moving to the interview stage.  Over the past weeks we have recruited candidates, pre-interviewed many of them, matched strengths against the profile that was developed for a new superintendent for your district and made numerous background and reference checks.

We are pleased to be able to bring forth seven high quality candidates to your school board tonight (Monday, May 13).  After the Board accepts this slate of candidates, they will conduct a first round of interviews on Wednesday and Thursday evening.  These interviews will be conducted by the board members, and after concluding the interviews on Thursday evening they will choose two or three candidates to move to a second final round of interviews.

The final round of interviews will involve significant staff and community participation.  These interviews, to be held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, May 20, 21 and 22, will each last a whole day.  On each day a different finalist will have a tour of the district in the morning followed by meetings with delegations of students, teaching staff, support staff, DO personnel and parents.  Late in the afternoon there will be an open community meeting at which time the candidate will answer questions from citizens.  You are all invited to participate in the community meeting.

After each meeting during the day each participant will be asked to fill out a feedback form which will be copied and distributed to each board member.  Thus the board will know of your input prior to conducting a final interview later in the evening.

We expect that the Board will make a decision to enter into contract negotiations with a single candidate late on the evening of the last interview.  A contract would be approved about a week later and the new superintendent should be able to begin working on July 1.

These interviews are really a 2-way process.  While you and the board are interviewing each candidate, the candidate is interviewing you.  The person selected to lead the district will be thinking about moving to Cambridge-Isanti and relocating a family to your community.  We want a great match for both parties.

If you have any questions about the process, feel free to contact me at ckyte2@gmail.com.  If you would like to participate, a schedule will be posted on all the school news sites later this week.

From Charlie Kyte

Attached is a word doc with a message to the C-I staff.  Please open and paste into an email and send it out district wide on Monday morning.

I also pasted the message into this email below so it can be easily read by those being copied in.

I will also depend on you and Tim T. to have the final round interview schedule completed by the board meeting on Monday evening.  You should make about 15 copies.

I will bring enough copies of the recommendation to the Board (includes short bios), the interview questions, each candidates complete application and the Final Report with me to the meeting.

I would like to meet with you about 45 minutes prior to the meeting on Monday to review your role in the final round of interviews.

Please call if you have any questions.
