2012 W-2’s Available:
The 2012 Wage and Tax Statements (Form W-2) are now available to those employees who consented to receive their W-2 electronically.  Employees can print as many copies as necessary of form W2.  It should be printed with black ink on white paper only.

Beginning on 08/24/2007, employees had the opportunity to respond to a pop-up message when they signed on to the self-service web site.  A “YES” response gave consent to receive the W-2 electronically.  A “NO” response withheld consent.  Those who selected “NO” or did not respond will receive a paper Form W-2 that will be mailed by the end of the month.

If you originally withheld consent, but would now like to receive your W-2 electronically, you still have the option to provide consent and receive the W-2 electronically by clicking the W-2 link in menu of choices in the ESS website.  Consent may be given at any time.

January 30 tax season opening:
The IRS will begin accepting tax returns on January 30, 2013 for the 2012 tax returns. A majority of taxpayers should be able to start filing on January 30; however, some households with more extensive tax returns may have to wait until February to file their returns. This includes households claiming energy credits, depreciation of property or general business credits.

Health Care Reform - W-2 Form Reporting:
Employers are now required to report the total cost of employer-sponsored group health plan coverage on their employees’ W-2 forms. This amount includes both the employer and employee portion of health insurance costs. You will notice this change in box 12b of your W-2. This new reporting requirement is meant for informational purposes only and does not mean the cost of the coverage is taxable to the employee.
